A woman has been arrested following a collision in Hartlepool today which left another woman complaining of chest pains.

The female patient was treated on the scene by paramedics following the collision in the York Road area of the town this morning. Fire fighters who were also called to the scene urged motorists to avoid the area.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "A two vehicle collision was reported at 9.55am involving a Peugeot 208 and a Ford Ranger.

"One woman complained of chest pain and was assessed by ambulance service colleagues. Another woman aged 25 has been arrested in connection with the incident.

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We received a call at 9.58am to reports of a road traffic incident on the York Road junction with Colwyn Road, Hartlepool. We dispatched one rapid response paramedic, who treated and discharged one patient on-scene."
